Coaching
One-on-one guidance to help you heal, grow, and become who you're meant to be
Is Coaching Right for You?
- You’re navigating a major life transition
- You’re healing from loss, grief, or trauma
- You’re seeking clarity on your purpose and calling
- You want personal growth rooted in faith and resilience
- You’re ready to do the inner work for lasting change
Are You Seeking Growth or Change?
Whether you want to change, but perhaps you’re just not quite sure what you’re looking for – or you have a clear goal but you’re not sure how to get there, we can help. Using a variety of tools and assessments, we’ll work with you to determine your strengths and where your interest lies – and then develop a plan for advancing those.
Sometimes people think, “I could never do that!” but the truth is they haven’t allowed themselves to dream. The first step is to imagine it. Working together, we’ll encourage you to consider what’s really possible, whether that’s in your professional life, or perhaps bringing your skills to bear in a new way, or to find ways to have a greater impact in various areas of your life.

Are You Feeling Stuck, Overwhelmed, or a Little “Off”
Sometimes you may feel stuck in your personal life or career; or perhaps overwhelmed with responsibilities at home or professionally. Sometimes, you may feel as if something is just a little…off. Instead of living with these feelings and hoping they resolve themselves, take them as a cue that something needs to be examined and possibly change.
When these feelings arise, many turn to self-help books, podcasts, and online courses, and while these methods can help, they often take a lot longer to produce results, and you may not get to the real heart of the problem. Working with a coach can give you an “outside-in” perspective and can result in a meaningful action plan in as little as three sessions.
Coaching can help you identify a plan to increase your satisfaction and put you on a path to greater purpose in your career and/or personal life. For example, we’ve worked with coaching clients to find and embrace a natural, authentic leadership style, balance/integrate family and work, have difficult conversations in an effective way, and more.
We work with you to meet your specific coaching needs in a healthy, supportive environment.

Coaching FAQs
What’s the advantage of working with a coach versus self-learning?
While we encourage self-learning through the use of books, podcasts, etc., those tools simply cannot replace the outside perspective that a coach can provide. A coach provides focused, deep listening, which can lead to meaningful, and sometimes surprising, insights. We’ll look beyond what you say to help you uncover what you’re not saying, helping you bring out thoughts and feelings you may not be aware of. What’s more, we’ll provide accountability along your journey, with frequent check-ins and regular encouragement.
Who can benefit from coaching?
We’re hired by companies to coach their executive staff, and by individuals at varying levels in their personal or professional development. We have extensive experience in providing not only professional coaching, but also organizational development.
When is the best time to engage a coach?
Ideally, before the transition. The first few sessions are more intensive work and after you’ve gotten through a few initial sessions, we may recommend you switch to period check-ins.
What is the coaching process?
You’ll begin with a 30-minute in-person or phone consultation to ensure coaching is right for you and to answer additional questions you may have; this also helps us prepare for your first full session. If you agree that we’re a good fit for you, we generally recommend beginning with three weekly sessions during which we’ll take a deep dive into your goals and objectives. We typically provide clients with a summary outcome following each session that outlines the main points we covered and recommendations for next steps. This also helps clarify the direction for the next session, to help you best prepare for it. This also frees you up from having to take notes and acts as an agenda that helps direct your actions for the coming week. Beyond that, coaching is not too rigid, and we design a program that meets your (sometimes changing) needs. At each session, we’ll check-in to make sure we’re on track, and since life is “ongoing,” to determine whether something new has come up that you’d like to focus on or address.
How long does a coaching engagement last?
We’ll begin with a 30-minute consultation to make sure coaching is right for you and to answer additional questions you may have; this also helps us make the most of our first full session together. If you agree that we’re a good fit for you, we recommend a minimum of three sessions, but the ultimate length of your engagement will depend on why you’re seeking coaching, and your goals and objectives.
How often will we meet?
Typically, we’ll meet once per week for a few weeks, then perhaps just once or twice per month so we can help provide accountability as you work through your action plan. Of course, the way we’ll work together is structured to fit your needs, goals, and schedule.
Will we meet in person or over the phone?
If possible, we try to meet in person at least for the first few sessions to maximize the value of our time together. In general, in-person meetings allow for easier, more effective communication and understanding. Following those initial sessions, meetings can continue to take place in person or transition to phone or video conferences. We’re very flexible in terms of what will work best with your specific situation.
Is our work together confidential?
Yes—whether we’re hired directly by you, or by your organization to coach you, our work together is completely confidential. Especially following a transition, it’s helpful to have a safe space to talk through challenges or frustrations in a way that allows those feelings to not affect your work or home environment.
Many executives find that it’s very helpful to have someone outside their organization to speak freely with—someone that can create a safe space for them to talk about issues or challenges within the organization that they can’t otherwise talk about at work. Having a safe, confidential person to talk with or use as a sounding board is both healthy and productive.
Do you provide counseling services?
No, we’re not licensed counselors; but through our sessions we’ll provide a safe space to talk through just about anything. You’re not compartmentalized as an individual. Your work may be impacting your personal life, or vice versa—it’s fluid—one impacts the other. When you’re going through a transition or seeking change, vulnerabilities and fears come up, and we offer a safe space to address these thoughts and feelings. Not focusing solely on the “professional” aspect of clients’ lives allows for greater freedom and value to be extracted from the session. Of course, if we find that you’re entering a realm that we feel requires additional professional support or is beyond the scope of our skill-sets, we’ll recommend that you seek additional support.
Why Work with HELPPS?
Our unique approach blends compassionate listening with gentle accountability. While your sessions will be self-directed—you set the focus for our work together—we’ll help guide you and encourage you towards deeper insights and growth than you may have thought possible.
Ultimately, having a good match in a coach is important. We want to ensure you feel safe, natural, and free while we’re working together. We want you to feel that you can trust us and that we’ll help you get to where you’re headed. And if you don’t, then we’re happy to help you find someone that is a good match.
